Money in, money out, and the ceiling nobody mentions
A bookmaker's cashier tells you which wallets it takes. It does not tell you that your wallet has a monthly ceiling set by the central bank, that one book on this slip charges you to withdraw your own money, or that the levy everyone still budgets for was repealed.
The rails
| Rail | Where it stands | Books naming it | Operator fee |
|---|---|---|---|
| MTN Mobile Money | The default. Every book on the slip takes it, and where an operator publishes a deposit floor at all this is the rail it publishes one for. | 9 of 13 | free at every operator that publishes a position |
| Telecel Cash | The same money by a different name, and the name is where the mistakes are. Vodafone Cash became Telecel Cash and most affiliate copy has not caught up, so a page telling you to pick Vodafone at the cashier is describing a menu that no longer exists. | 8 of 13 | free where published |
| AirtelTigo Money | The smallest of the three wallets and the one with the clearest documented disadvantage: at least one book caps deposits on this rail lower than on the other two. | 8 of 13 | free where published |
| Bank transfer | The route for a win big enough that a wallet tier will not hold it. Slower everywhere both are published, and the only rail the central bank ceilings do not bind. | 0 of 13 | not published |
| Debit or credit card | Funding only. Nothing found pays a win back to a card, so a card deposit still leaves by wallet. | 3 of 13 | not published |
| Cryptocurrency | One licensed casino takes it and no licensed sportsbook does. The regulator lists crypto deposits into a gaming account as a money-laundering red flag, so using it can trigger extra checks even where it is accepted. | 1 of 13 | not published |
Every per-rail minimum and every minute figure in the shared rails file is deliberately empty. A verification pass found that every candidate came from an aggregator, that the aggregators contradicted each other, and that several were pages about a different country recycled for Ghana. Where a floor exists it is on the bookmaker's own record and it is in the table below.
What each book on the slip actually publishes
| Bookmaker | Smallest deposit | Smallest withdrawal | Cash out, as published | Charge to withdraw |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| MSport | GH₵1.00 | not published | 45 min | none published |
| Wiwi Casino | GH₵1.00 | GH₵1.00 | 5 min | none published |
| Soccabet | GH₵5.00 | not published | 8 min | none published |
| betPawa | GH₵1.00 | not published | 10 min | 1% withdrawal fee charged by betPawa; deposits free |
| SportyBet | GH₵1.00 | GH₵1.00 | 2 min | none published |
| Betway | not published | not published | 5 min | none published |
| BetFox | GH₵1.00 | GH₵2.00 | 15 min | none published |
betPawa states 1% withdrawal fee charged by betPawa; deposits free. It is the operator's own published position and it is the kind of figure that disappears from a comparison page, because it is the one thing a book would rather you found out after you had won something.
A blank is a book that publishes no figure. Nothing here is filled in from a third party.
The ceiling that is not your bookmaker's
Bank of Ghana sets what a mobile money wallet may receive and hold, and those tiers decide what happens to a large win long before any bookmaker's terms do. They took effect on 1 March 2024.
| Wallet tier | In a day | In a month | Balance held |
|---|---|---|---|
| Minimum KYC | GH₵3,000 | GH₵10,000 | GH₵5,000 |
| Medium KYC | GH₵15,000 | no cap | GH₵40,000 |
| Enhanced KYC | GH₵25,000 | no cap | GH₵75,000 |
A blank in the monthly column means unlimited, not unknown. The monthly cap at the lowest tier is the one that actually binds a winner: splitting a payout across consecutive days does not get round a monthly ceiling, and only upgrading the wallet removes it. A win larger than the tier allows has to go out by bank transfer or be split over months.
About getting paid
- Is there still a tax on a mobile money transfer in Ghana?
- No. The electronic transfer levy was repealed on 2 April 2025 and the revenue authority told charging entities to stop deducting it the same day. No government levy sits on a mobile money transfer today.
- Is a betting win taxed?
- Not now. A separate 10 per cent withholding on gross winnings ran from 2023 until it was repealed on 2 April 2025, so a licensed operator pays a win in full. Two different things ended on the same day and they are often written about as if they were one. The dates, separately.
- Why can I not withdraw a large win in one go?
- Because of your wallet tier rather than your bookmaker. At minimum verification a wallet cannot receive more than GH₵3,000 in a day or GH₵10,000 in a month. The monthly figure is the one that binds: splitting a payout across days does not get round it, and only upgrading the wallet removes it. All three ceilings are set out below.
- Which rail is fastest?
- Nothing in our records supports ranking the three wallets against each other for speed, so this site does not. What the records do carry is each bookmaker's own published cash out wording, and those differ far more between books than between wallets.
